FLATBED – Leveller

FLATBED – Leveller

In the age of spirographic tools and blind shakers, is the humble puck leveller still relevant? We think so, because it anchors a foundational step to puck prep that is frequently overlooked.

As it distributes your grinds, it doesn't just flatten the surface but also creates a perfectly sized cavity for your tamper to enter. And if you use a self-levelling tamper, this cavity allows the self-levelling edge to secure its footing without disturbing the grinds below, leaving you with ideal conditions from which to tamp.

The 0.5mm Difference
What sets Flatbed apart are the uniquely angled slopes that define the form of its sidewalls. Despite measuring a mere 0.5mm in depth, they work to deliver a functional benefit that belies their micro-proportions.

As you spin Flatbed to level your grinds, these micro-slopes work simultaneously to sweep any fines that might be stuck to the walls of your basket, guiding them down neatly along the outer circumference of your puck.

This targeted compaction seals the edges to improve puck integrity and reduce side-channelling, while preventing errant grinds from fouling your group head shower screen.

Because the smallest details can make the biggest difference.
Satisfy your fastidiousness with Flatbed.

Instructions:
Step 1 – Set Flatbed gently over your portafilter. Let its natural weight do the work, and spin it for two full rotations without applying downward pressure.
Step 2 Then, to clean the sidewalls and seal the perimeter, exert moderate pressure with Flatbed towards the outside of your basket, and give it a few final spins.
